Certificate III
Purpose
The Certificate III qualifies individuals who apply a broad range of knowledge and skills in varied contexts to undertake skilled work and as a pathway for further learning.
Summary
Graduates at this level will have theoretical and practical knowledge and skills for work and/or further learning.
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
Criteria: Graduates at this level will have factual, technical, procedural and some theoretical knowledge of a specific area of work and learning.
Descriptor: Graduates of a Certificate III will have factual, technical, procedural and theoretical knowledge in an area of work and learning.
Skills
Criteria: Graduates at this level will have a range of cognitive, technical and communication skills to select and apply methods and technologies to:
- interpret information
- undertake routine activities
- provide and transmit solutions to sometimes complex problems
Descriptor: Graduates of a Certificate III will have cognitive, technical and communication skills to interpret and act on available information, and to apply and communicate known solutions to sometimes complex problems.
Application of Knowledge & Skills
Criteria: Graduates at this level will apply knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy and judgement and to take limited responsibility in known and stable contexts within established parameters.
Descriptor: Graduates of a Certificate III will demonstrate the application of knowledge and skills with some responsibility and limited autonomy in contexts where there is a range of established responses to familiar problems and some discretion and judgement is required.
Volume of Learning
The volume of learning is typically 1–2 years.
Pathways
Each qualification accredited as a Certificate III will include documented pathways consistent with the AQF Qualifications Pathways Policy. Certificate III qualifications build on Certificates I and II and provide a pathway to Certificate IV and Diploma qualifications.
